Yoga has no religion, it is a practice. The first practitioners of it were the people of the Indus Valley Civilization who lived along the banks of the river Indus. The archaeological evidence of their ruins date back to 8000BC (Mehrgarh in Balochistan, Pakistan). The collapse of the civilization started 2500BC due to catastrophic natural phenomena (earthquakes in the Himalayas leading to the Indus river changing course, drought in Central Asia leading to mass migration to South Asia).
